The other half of the job. . .

Today I am not working the art as much and focusing on the administrative stuff. During these times I have to play the role of secretary, accountant, lawyer, and PR person. Not as fun as painting, but it has to be done.

"Art in America" Reviews Texas Biennial

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
In this month's Art in America, the Texas Biennial got a review in which writer Frances Colpitt applauded curator Michael Duncan for "championing sincere, underrecognized artists." This recognition is great for the Texas Biennial as an organization, and for the artists involved now and in the future. See the full page review here.

Gone are the days when hard copy publications reigned; e-magazines are the way of the future. The best of these magazines target a niche audience and are updated often.

"CLUTCH" is a weekly magazine that is focused on fashion, beauty, life and culture. The magazine is geared toward the urban female. “CLUTCH is not only fly, it is authentic and uniquely relevant to its community. It is the digital destination for the smart, stylish and a sexy urban female. CLUTCH gets it and CLUTCH is sure to get you on the very first click.” — Michaela angela Davis

In addition to the weekly magazine, CLUTCH also has a blog network. They wrote a blurb about my artwork on their home and decor blog "PAD" here.

Another online publication SheBreathes includes content about fashion and culture. It also has a related blog Love + Dreams which is "a virtual vault of inspiring and beautiful goodies." Read their write up about my paintings here.

Working on new pieces. . .

I had a really fun photo shoot last week where I photographed a model for my upcoming work. Now I am working on new paintings that are a result of those photos. These paintings will be on exhibit later this summer.
